Albert L. Chumley was born on 12 April 1924. He was the son of James Roy Chumley and Callus Saray Cline. Albert L. Chumley married Lillian McDowell, daughter of George C. McDowell and Pearl R. Fortner, in 1942. Albert L. Chumley died on 7 November 2008 at age 84 years, 6 months and 26 days. He was buried on 10 November 2008 in the Chumley Cemetery, located in Claiborne County, Tennessee.

Albert Chumley, 84, passed away at his home Nov. 7 after a short illness of about three months being in hospice care. He was a veteran of World War II, retired from Norris Homes and was a farmer most of his life. He was an active member of The Tazewell Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clayton Chumley, Roy Chumley and Daniel Chumley; father; James Chumley and mother; Callis Cline Chumley.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lillian McDowell Chumley; sons, Ray Chumley and wife, Bonnie, Lynn Chumley and wife, Carol; grandchildren, Bobby, Phillip, and Timmy Chumley, Michelle Richardson and husband, Perry; great grandchildren, Cody, Derek and Jamie Richardson, all of Speedwell; sister, Juanita McDowell of Tazewell, Maggie Kidds of Etowah and Morine Asher of Indiana; a host of special nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Nov. 10 at Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel with Minister Jim Callahan and Phillip Chumley officiating. Interment was in the Chumley Cemetery with full military honors.
Reece Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
