Thomas Franklin Zane was born on 15 November 1937.1 He was the son of Herbert Franklin Zane and Elsie Brucklacher. Thomas Franklin Zane married, at age 23, Carolyn R. Edkin on Saturday, 3 June 1961.2 Thomas Franklin Zane died on 7 June 2002 at age 64 years, 6 months and 23 days.1
His obituary was published on 8 June 2002 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Thomas F. Zane, Sr., 64, of 775 Palmer Hill Road, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at home.
He and his wife, the former Carolyn R. Edkin, celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on June 3 of this year.
Employed by Springs Window Fashions for the past 39 years, he was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He also retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1985 after 29 years of service.
Thomas was a member of Hepburn Baptist Church and served on the Trustee Board there. He was also a member of the Naval Enlisted Reserve Assoc., Hepburn Twp. Volunteer Fire Co., Lodge 106 F&AM, a 32nd degree mason, and the Williamsport Consistory. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Born on Nov. 15, 1937, in Cogan Station, he was the son of Herbert F. and Elsie Brucklacher Zane.
Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Thomas F., Jr., South Williamsport; three daughters, Crystal Z. Harrelson, Tabor City, NC, Melissa Z. Shaver, Wilmington, NC and Tanya Z. Entz, Picture Rocks; two sisters, Loretta Lewis, Warrington, and Charlotte Bower, Carlisle and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the church, 2917 Pleasant Valley Road, Cogan Station, 17728, with the Rev. Mark Mahserjian-Smith, his pastor, officiating. Interment in Spotts-Brucklacher Cemetery. Friends may call at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to the church memorial fund.3
