William A. Funte was born on 10 June 1923 at Elma, Howard County, Iowa.1,2 He was the son of Otto Funte and Mary Ellen Kehoe. William A. Funte married Beverly Smith, daughter of Calvin V. Smith and Della May Raisty, in 1945. William A. Funte died on 30 January 2006 at Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona, at age 82 years, 7 months and 20 days.1,2 A memorial service for William A. Funte was held Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona, on 5 February 2006.2
His obituary was published on 2 February 2006 in the The Des Moines Register, printed in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa. His obituary stated:
William (Bill) Funte, 82, died Monday, January 30, 2006, in Mesa, AZ of congestive heart failure. A memorial service will be held in Mesa, AZ on Sunday, February 5, 2006. Memorial contributions may be made to the Urbandale Lions Club or the American Heart Association.
Bill was born in Elma, IA on June 10, 1923, and taught at North High School from 1957-1982. He was a retired business teacher and a WWII veteran. Bill was Urbandale Citizen of the Year in 1970, was Iowa Lions District Governor, founder of the Urbandale Girls Softball League and a member of Urbandale Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beverly; daughters, Janelle Lamb of Pleasant Hill and Dede Radford of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.2 The Social Security Death Index gives the last residence of record for William as Urbandale, Polk County, Iowa.1
