Cathryn A. Cohick was born on 19 July 1923 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of Lloyd Montgomery Cohick and Sarah Emma Confair.1 Cathryn A. Cohick married, at age 21, Allen Smith, age 17, son of John Roscoe Smith and Margaret Brooks, on Tuesday, 12 September 1944. Cathryn A. Cohick died on 11 December 2003 at Manor Care Health Center, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 80 years, 4 months and 22 days.1,2 She was buried on 15 December 2003 in the Woodward Township Cemetery, located in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend James W. Kasler.1
She was widowed at age 42 by the death of Allen on 26 September 1965. Her obituary was published on 12 December 2003 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Cathryn A. Smith, 80, formerly of Spook Hollow Road, Linden, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in Manor Care, Jersey Shore.
She was born July 19, 1923, in Anthony Township, a daughter of Lloyd and Sarah Confair Cohick.
Cathryn was a member of the Lycoming Christian Church. She worked at the Silk Mill in Williamsport and in her later years at the Williamsport Home.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Jack Young; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis W. and Karen J. Smith; and a son, Barry L. Smith, all of Linden; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Calvin Cohick of Williamsport; and a sister, Gladys Schweikert of Linden. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin, and two brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to Cathryn’s Life Celebration at 11 a.m. Monday at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd. "Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore with the Rev. James Kasler officiating. Interment will be in Woodward Township Cemetery.1
