David William Sechrist was born on 14 September 1954 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Howard Edward Sechrist and Dorothy Jeanette Yoder.1 David William Sechrist married, at age 21, Carole Diane Bastian on Thursday, 26 August 1976.1 David William Sechrist died on 4 February 2000 at age 45 years, 4 months and 21 days.2 He was buried on 9 February 2000 in the Union Cemetery, located in Liberty, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Henry Hopper.3
His obituary was published on 7 February 2000 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
David William Sechrist, 45, of Liberty RR 1 died Friday Feb. 4, 2000.
He was a counselor at Northern Tier Youth Service of Blossburg. He was interested in hunting, fishing, beekeeping, candle making, conservation and environmental issues. Sechrist was a member of the Sons of Pythias in Liberty, the National Audubon Society, president of the Tiadaghton Audubon Society of Tioga County, and a past member of the Hillside Rod and Gun Club in Blossburg. He was a board member of the Pennsylvania National Conservancy Council, the HERB Guild, the Tioga County Environmental Program and he was coordinator of the Public Raven Monthly Newsletter. He was a Penn State University Master Gardner.
Born Sept. 14, 1954, in Williamsport, he was a son of Howard Edward and Dorothy Yoder Sechrist.
Surviving, besides his mother of Cogan Station, are his former wife, Diane Bastian of Liberty; a brother, James D. of Ralston; a niece, Brenda, also of Ralston; a nephew, Joseph, serving in the Marines. His father died in May 1996.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freeberg's, 120 N. Williamson Road, Blossburg, with the Rev. Henry Hopper, assistant pastor of Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The family will provide the flowers.1
