Smithgall died on 22 July 1925 at home of Jacob Smithgall, Montour Street, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 83 years and 1 month.¹ He was buried on 24 July 1925 Smithgall Cemetery, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.¹
