Alvin L. Cohick was born on 12 June 1922.2,1 He was the son of Timothy R. Cohick and Lula M. Brooks.1 Alvin L. Cohick married, at age 19, Ruby Wurster, daughter of Oscar Wurster and Margaret Culvery, on Monday, 11 August 1941 at Lutheran Church, Winchester, Winchester County, Virginia, by the Reverend E. B. Smith.3 Alvin L. Cohick and Ruby Wurster were divorced in 1965. Alvin L. Cohick died on 13 December 2006 at age 84 years, 6 months and 1 day.1
His obituary was published on 15 December 2006 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Alvin L. Cohick, 84, of 1222 Grangers Road, Selinsgrove, formerly of Linden, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 in the Evangelical Community Hospital Emergency Room in Lewisburg.
Born June 12, 1922 in Linden, he was the son of Timothy R. Cohick and the former Lulu M. Brooks.
After many years of service, he retired as a supervisor at Avco in Williamsport. During WWII, Alvin served in the United States Navy. For many years he was a member of the Jersey Shore American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of Moose and Elks Lodge.
Surviving is his companion of several years, Anna L. Comrey of Selinsgrove; one daughter, Linda Lu (Slugger) Bower of Linden; five grandchildren, Timothy Cohick, Tammy Mitchel, Aprie Bower, Justin Bower and Amber Bower Wilde; four great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; two brothers, Oaul Cohick and Clair Cohick, both of Las Vegas, Nev.
Alvin was preceded in death by a son, Wayne L. Cohick and a brother, Robert Cohick.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Dec. 16, at 12 noon in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of services in the funeral home. The Rev. John Phillips will officiate.1
