Georgiana Krepela was born on 26 June 1911 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.1,2 She was the daughter of Anton Krepela and Anna [—?—].3 Georgiana Krepela married, at age 26, Thomas Alfred Ulmer, age 27, son of Harry Edward Ulmer and Sarah Alice Hart, on Saturday, 26 June 1937.4,5 Georgiana Krepela died on 22 December 2003 at Oregon at age 92 years, 5 months and 26 days.1
Her obituary was published sometime in December 2003 in the Statesman Journal, printed in Salem, Marion County, Oregon. Her obituary stated:

June 26, 1911 - December 22, 2003
SALEM - Georgiana Ulmer, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday morning at the Sunnyside Care Center.
She was born in Chicago to Anna and Anton Krepela on June 26, 1911. When her parents learned of her deafness, her family moved to Salem so she could attend the Oregon School for the Deaf. She began her schooling in 1915, at OSD, graduating in 1930. She then attended Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. where she was a member of Phi Kappa Zeta sorority and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1937. She remembers having tea at the White House with First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt with her sorority. During summers, she worked for the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles, becoming the State’s first full-time Deaf employee.
She married Thomas A. Ulmer on June 26, 1937, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until his death in 1994. She dedicated her life to educating deaf children with a special interest in teaching children with multiple disabilities. She retired from her work at the school in 1973 although she never stopped teaching. She is fondly remembered by many former students.
Georgiana was a lifelong learner, especially of American and Oregon history. She enjoyed creating scrapbooks which she loved to share with anyone who had the time.
Georgiana was a member of the National and Oregon Associations of the Deaf and was named the OAD’s Woman of the Year.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, on June 26, 1994 and by her brother, Fred Krepela in 1997.
She is survived by her son, Thomas, Jr., and his wife, Yvonne; daughter, Cherie Ulmer and her husband, Tim McFarland; grandchildren, Kelley Jones, Amy Groom, Jenny and Todd Ulmer, Galen, Miles, and Nicky Brownson; and great-grandson, Cody Groom.
A memorial celebration of her life will be on Monday, December 29, 11 a.m., at the Oregon School for the Deaf, Peterson Hall. Contributions in her name may be made to Oregon School for the Deaf.
She was a living example that angels do, indeed, walk among us.
