James R. Bastian was born on 21 August 1930 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of William Clair Bastian and Mildred H. Marquardt.2 James R. Bastian married a second time Krystyna Wasacz circa 1975. James R. Bastian died on 20 August 2002 at age 71 years, 11 months and 30 days.1,2 He was buried on 23 August 2002 in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
His obituary was published on 23 August 2002 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Dr. James R. Bastian, 71, of St. Davids Road, died Tuesday, August 20, 2002. Born on August 21, 1930 in Williamsport, he was the son of Dr. Clair and Mildred (Molly) Marquardt Bastian.
Dr. Bastian was a 1948 graduate of Williamsport High School. He was also a graduate of Bucknell University, Jefferson Medical College, and Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital. He practiced ophthalmology in Lycoming County for 35 years and retired in 1995. He served in the Air Force for four years in the early 1950 s as a radio operator aboard a B-24 bomber.
Surviving are his wife, the former Krystyna Wasacz; three daughters, Lynn Michelle Haddad, Jennifer Ann Bastian, and Julie Suzanne Bastian; two step-daughters, Margaret and Ewa Grzesik; a brother, William Clair Bastian Jr; and a sister, Joan Louise Weis.
A funeral service will be held for family and friends at 10 a.m. Friday, August 23, at the Maneval Funeral Home, 500 West Fourth St. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.2 The Social Security Death Index gives the last residence of record for James as Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
