Frances Gleason1

     Frances Gleason was born on 14 June 1930. She married William L. Levegood Jr., son of William L. Levegood and Harriet M. Jungle, circa 1952.1 Frances Gleason died on 10 August 2008 at age 78 years, 1 month and 27 days.
     Her obituary was published on 12 August 2008 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     On August 10 Frances Levegood went to be with the Lord.

     Born in Irish Valley, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania on June 14, 1930, to LeRoy Gleason III and Mary Fisher Gleason. She moved to Jersey Shore with her family in 1936.

She is survived by a son, William Levegood (Molly) of Lake Forest, California. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Mary, Will, and Jim Levegood all of Lake Forest, California and a special niece, Mary Gleason Milhouse in Madison, Alabama. Surviving also are 2 very special friends, Mrs. Peggy Snyder and Mrs. Belinda Moore.

     Frances was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School, Lycoming College and graduate studies at Penn State University. She was an educator of 34 years having taught Social Studies in the Jersey Shore Junior High School before retiring in 1995.

     Frances played an active roll in her community. She served on the Jersey Shore Hospital Board of Directors from 1962-1972 and was past president of the hospitals Junior Service Group. She was secretary of the Jersey Shore Historical Society and serves as a board member of the Jersey Shore Public Library. She is a member of the Clinton County Country Club where she enjoyed playing bridge, having played with the same friends for over forty years. She is a past member of the Jersey Shore Garden Club, the Jersey Shore Planning Commission, the Clio Club and the Sassy Ladies Red Hat Club. Frances was a member of the Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church since 1938 where she served as both Elder and Deacon.

     Frances will be deeply missed by all those which she came in contact.

     Frances' "Life Celebration" will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 10 a.m., at the Jersey Shore First Presbyterian Church at 235 S. Main St. Memorial Services will begin at 10 a.m.

     Funeral services are entrusted to Rearick-Carpenter "A Life Celebration Home" of Jersey Shore.

     Donations can be made in her memory in lieu of flowers to Jersey Shore Library.
