Roscoe Vertner Heinlen was born on 3 October 1912 at Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of William A. Heinlen and Laura Ellen Waltz. Roscoe Vertner Heinlen married, at age 25, Florence R. Fisher, daughter of Clarence Fisher and Elizabeth Pearl Metzger, on Saturday, 25 June 1938 at Evangelical United Methodist Church, Newberry, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Benjamin Griffin Hoffman.2 Roscoe Vertner Heinlen died on 19 March 2003 at Roseview Manor, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 90 years, 5 months and 16 days.1 He was buried on 22 March 2003 in the State Road United Methodist Church Cemetery, located in Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
He was Plant maintenance supervisor at Williamsport Milk Products Company for 38 years. between 1937 and 1975. He was Plant maintenance supervisor at Valley Farms Dairy for two years. between 1975 and 1977. His obituary was published on 20 March 2003 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Roscoe V. Heinlen, 90, of 2706 Grand St., Williamsport, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in RoseView Center. He and his wife, the former Florence Fisher, would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 25.
Mr. Heinlen was born Oct. 3, 1912, in Cogan Station, a son of William and Laura Waltz Heinlen.
He was employed as plant maintenance supervisor at Williamsport Milk Products Co. for 38 years and two years for Valley Farms Dairy before retiring in 1977. He was a member, former deacon, superintendent of Sunday School, substitute teacher and a member of various committees of Memorial Baptist Church.
He joined Laurel Lodge Hunting Club in 1937 and served as president from 1945 until 2002. He was president of the Anthony Cemetery Association and a member of the NRA.
Surviving besides his wife, are a son, Richard A. (Suzanne) of city; a brother, Kenneth L. of city; four stepgrandchildren, Ruth E. Somers of Schuylkill Haven, Stacy L. Gardner, Lori L. Griffin and Alicia M. Faulkner, all of city; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., with the Revs. Jeffrey Williams and Larry Siikenan officiating. Burial will be in State Road Cemetery. Friends may call at Sanders’ from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests that memorials be given to Memorial Baptist Church, 2100 W. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.3
