Henrietta May Sager was born on 17 May 1922 at Turbotville, Lewis Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Adolph Gustav Sager and Ruth Huldah Schaeffer. Henrietta May Sager married, at age 20, Darrell R. Whipple, age 17 on Saturday, 24 October 1942. Henrietta May Sager died on 27 November 2002 at Kramm Health Care Center, Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, at age 80 years, 6 months and 10 days. She was buried in the Blooming Grove Cemetery, located in Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Henrietta W. (Retta) Whipple, 80, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 27, 2002, at Kramm Healthcare Center, Milton, where she was a resident for two years. She resided near Turbotville during childhood, later moving to Sunbury R.D., then Lewisburg.
She was born in Warrensville, May 17, 1922, a daughter of the late Adolf G. and Ruth Schaeffer Sager. She was married to Darrell Whipple, who preceded her in death in 1984 after 42 years of marriage.
Formerly employed at Westinghouse Corporation in Sunbury, she later worked as social editor for the Milton Evening Standard newspaper until her retirement in 1966. She was a member of the Reformed Baptist Church of Lewisburg.
Retta is survived by a son, Rodney Whipple, and two grandchildren, of Angier, N.C; and two sisters, Sarah Benthien of Wauwatosa, Wis. and Althea Hauck of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Sager; and a sister, Oda Day.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Reformed Baptist Church, 830 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, with her pastor, the Rev. Rodney Connor, officiating. Burial will be in the Blooming Grove Cemetery, near Warrensville. There will be no visitation.
Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and 8th streets, Lewisburg. Donations may be made in Mrs. Whipple s memory to a charity of the donor s choice.
