Johann Wilhelm Kiess was born on 24 May 1740 at Möhringen, Oberamt Stuttgart, Neckarkreis, Württemberg.1 He was the son of Hans Jacob Kiess and Anna Dorothea Stoltz. Johann Wilhelm Kiess married, at age 22, Sophia Dorothea Auch, age 22, daughter of Johann George Auch and Sophie Dorothea Stroble, on Tuesday, 23 November 1762 at Möhringen, Oberamt Stuttgart, Neckarkreis, Württemberg. Johann Wilhelm Kiess died on 23 January 1837 at Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 96 years, 7 months and 30 days.
