     George W. Updegraff was born on 18 September 1879 at Lyon County, Kansas.1 He was the son of William Updegraff and Emoline A. Perry.1 George W. Updegraff married, at age 23, Alice F. Johnson on Wednesday, 22 October 1902 at Greenfield, Dade County, Missouri. George W. Updegraff died on 7 September 1920 at Lamar, Prowers County, Colorado, at age 40 years, 11 months and 20 days. He was buried Prowers County, Colorado.
     He was killed by a lightning strike. He appeared on the census of 1880 in the household of William Updegraff and Emoline A. Perry at Elmendano, Lyon County, Kansas.
